HAMLET RECEIVES STANDING OVATION IN RIJEKA

The Yugoslav Drama Theatre production of Hamlet by William Shakespeare, directed by Aleksandar Popovski, was performed last night at the International Small Scene Theatre Festival in Rijeka.  The ensemble received standing ovation and the audiences at the Croatian National Theatre in Rijeka brought actor Nebojša Glogovac back on stage for a number of curtain calls.  The audience’s appreciation was evident in the rating that was given to the whole production – 4.56.  The round table discussion afterwards was held in a space that proved to be too small to receive all those who wanted to talk to the actors.

After a brief but successful tour of Austria and Croatia, ovations at Volkstheater in Vienna where Hamlet was performed on Saturday, 29th April and in Rijeka last night, the actors return to Belrade.  Performances of Hamlet at YDT are scheduled for 11th, 15th, 16th and 19th May.  The performance on 15th May will have English subtitles.
