The launch of a book dedicated to the diva of Yugoslav Drama Theatre and the entire theatre scene of former Yugoslavia, Marija Crnobori – essays on fragments by Prof. Dr Jelena Lužina, published by the Istrian branch of DHK publisher from Pula, is scheduled for 2nd October at 6pm on our YDT Studio stage.  Marija Crnobori (1918-2014) was a member of the first YDT ensemble and appeared in most of the productions in our repertoire of the day.  Her exceptional acting skills, her voice, stature and stage presence allowed Yugoslav Drama Theatre to stage major works of the classical repertoire, both Yugoslav and international, thanks to Marija Crnobori’s extraordinary talent for portraying classical heroines such as Antigone, Iphigenia, Phèdre, Gertrude, Laura Lembach…

YDT’s artistic director Gorčin Stojanović will be speaking at the lauch together with theatre director and professor Dejan Mijač and teatre theorist dr Jelena Kovačević. Prof. Dr Jelena Lužina has also been invited to the launch together with Goran Buić, Mayor of the Municipality of Medulin, without whose support this comprehensive edition would not have been possible.
